Responding to Mid-semester Course Feedback from Students, Fall 2023

Mid-semester course feedback surveys have closed and are in the process of being distributed to faculty. We have detailed advice on how to respond to student feedback. In short: identify a couple of high-priority concerns and address those publicly with the class, and explain to the class anything you can’t address mid-semester. Make sure to thank students for their feedback.

For unknown reasons, response rates were unusually low this semester. Consider incentivizing students to fill out final course evaluations at the end of the semester. Often just a fraction of a point in the final grade is enough to increase response rates, thus getting you representative data and comments on your course.
